Chef Manager wins Francois Offshore Catering staff safety campaign

At Francois Offshore Catering safety is paramount for our dedicated employees and the crews they serve.

Having amassed years of experience working offshore, catering and housekeeping employees are motivated and trained to identify potential safety issues in their work environments, in line with the asset operator’s onboard safety monitoring procedures.

Francois’s Safety Observation Card scheme was launched in 2022 to further encourage employees to observe, raise and address safety concerns with quarterly awards and an ultimate annual Card of the Year winner chosen.

The winner of this year’s Card of the Year is Iain Mearns, Chef Manager for his diligent observations onboard a drillship operating in the South Atlantic.

Hugh Rapson, Head of Francois Offshore Catering, congratulated Iain on becoming the overall winner of the 2024 Safety Observation Card of the Year.

He said: “I know Iain regularly contributes high quality safety observation cards throughout the year, so to win the Card of the Year is very well deserved and is a clear demonstration of real leadership.

“As we move into 2025, we are looking to further support exceptional safety performance

by adding an additional ‘Spot Award’, whereby crew can be nominated by their Line Managers for best practise and having positive influence on safety.

“We continue our efforts to ensure all our teams play an active part in promoting safe operations.”
